Anyone else here use a Mac Mini for at least some of your music? I have a Schiit Vali 2 and Modi Multibit hooked up to mine for Hirez Apple Lossless and plain Apple Lossless on iTunes. Usually listen to Ether-C 1.1 or MassDropFostex headphones. Wires are WyWires Platinum USB, Wywires Silver ICs and Wywires Red headphone cables.
Have you heard about the new Wywires Mac Mini power cord? Alex says it really cleans up the Mini's tunes. Ordered one last night.

If Alex says it works then I guess I'll buy one too!!!!

Hey wait a minute, who is Alex?

And I don't even own a MacMini!!!

This wouldn't happen to be a message board sales pitch would it? You almost had me...wow you are a very good salesman!

No sales person here. I use two brands of cables. Wywires and TG Audio. I can still talk to Alex, who is Wywires, but Good old Bob Crump has passed to that great soundstage in Heaven

I've been running Mac Minis in various configurations for about a decade now. My current Mini music server is attached to a Mytek DAC for the office system and it also doubles for 'streaming' music over the network to my main system in the basement via the microRendu streamer. I haven't played with many power cords on the Mini as I have found other areas that probably have more impact on the sonics.

I looked at your profile and noticed your Cary setup. Your "R" upgrade on the V12i was based in part on the 12BZ7 and work that Dennis Had and others did when they developed the AES/Cary SixPac monoblocks, my favorite 'affordable' EL34 tube amps. I still have some 12BZ7 that I bought direct from Cary and never used. The Cary 308T was my all time favorite tube CDP. I preferred it over the more costly CD 303/300 player. I also owned the Cary SLP-05 flagship preamp at one time.

Nice setup you have there!

Direct to Ethernet, no radios are active. Minimum OS-X/Yosemite.

Abe, you might want to call Alex at WyWires and ask him about his cable. He is always happy to talk to his customers. I will report back on this thread after using this cord for a month so that it has a chance to break in.
I have been very happy with all of his cables I have purchased since I bought the first Red headphone cable.

This is my computer audio system. Schiit Vali 2 with a Sylvania 6SN7W and a Modi Multibit DAC. ICs are Wywires Silver and USB is a Platinum Wywires USB cable.

Here's my setup in the office. The iPad is used as a remote control to navigate and play tunes from my library.

The same Mac Mini in my office is used as a "NAS" and allows me to stream music over the network to the microRendu
down in the basement. I take my iPad with me and again use it as a remote control.

Thanks for the tip on the cables.

Been using Macs for a while now, but stayed away from the Mini for a few years because the '09 Mini didn't sound right to me. So I'm a bit late to the game as always.

My setup is nothing to look at, but I'm currently using an i7 Mini, which I think is so far the best computer "transport" I've used for audio. I'm using an Amarra Model Four via firewire (remember that?), and coincidentally I'm usually listening to Amarra 4.
