Came here to say "holy crap!". I replaced my 300B SET amp and I'm really impressed so far. Such balanced sound. Every type of music sounds great and it plays as loud as I want and retains the same great sound at every volume level.

Gets you out of all the audiophile stuff and just focuses on the music. Loving it!

I will say that after listening for a bunch of hours it is a bit forward sounding. Not sure if that's a trait of OTL but I ordered a couple different EF86 tubes to swap to see if I can't chill it out a bit.

Always wondered how the Luxman OTL performed, and it seems it is good!!

Sometimes you end up hearing the differences from the prior amp, rather than the actual characteristics of the new amp. Perhaps you need a bit more time to get used to the new amp presentation of music, and then you can decide how you want to change it.

My amp/system is a bit forward, and I like that. Sometimes associated with more realistic / life-like.

I am being patient with this one as you suggested. I've gotten rid of all my other amp (except my Scott 222C, which I'll keep forever) to focus on enjoying this unique piece.

Not a lot out there on its reliability but luckily I purchased it through a tube tech who worked on the amp and was selling it on consignment.

I think LUX has had a good reputation for a long time. Curious, to I took a look, and indeed it is wired point to point. A very positive feature to my mind.

That is good! I've had a lot of work done by the tech and he's steered me away from other things in the past so I trust that this is a winner. Replaced a 300B amp that I thought I was in love with. I've always wanted one of Ralph's amps but I've never had the space since the setup has always been in the living area. One day!

Telefunken EF86s definitely give more depth to the sound. And so much better tone than the stock Japanese tubes.
