When Broken English dropped in '79, it felt like an electric shock. Hard to reconcile with As Tears Go By and Sister Morphine. It was the prequel to Alanis Morisette/Tori Amos/Fiona Apple/Kathleen Hannah/Riot Grrls a dozen years in advance. And then she morphed into the reincarnation of Lotte Leyna. An under-appreciated influence and talent throughout her entire life. Rest in Power.
