Full samples of MTT's Image on Youtube. My focus is on Perfumes, from Iberia

I just listened to "Perfumes" and it's pretty enchanting. My personal test passage is below: the soaring string line followed by two "sighs" (with ascending harp) seems to throw of the best of conductors.

For a comparison, try Ansermet's "Perfumes": here's a link to the very same passage. I'll leave it up to you to decide which is more balmy and naturally-paced.

It's 'Les parfums' not 'perfumes'.

Yeah, I like MTT's take on 'Images pour orchestre' a lot. Seems very well recorded from what I can tell streaming it at 16/44.1.

Zoverstocks is selling it for $14 plus $4 shipping from the UK yet. Might should jump on it.

I like the performances on this disc, mostly, except that the first Boulez/Cleveland recording has a lot more rhythmic snap in Iberia than this MTT version. The multichannel SACD of MTT has outstanding sound. Note that none of it was recorded in DSD, if you care (I don't).

Otherwise when I cut and paste your recommendations to TIDAL and QOBUZ I get no results.

Example: 'Isabel Faust'

Get's me NOTHING on TIDAL.

Perfumes of the Night? Doesn't sound as beautiful, does it?

You should know my humor by now.

No two conductors shape that passage in the same way, in my experience.

MTT takes those "sighs" a bit quickly, but the suspension/releases are very well-balanced and fleshed-out, top to bottom.

Otherwise the playing is beautiful, and sensual as one could wish, even via youtube, as you said it was.

Definitely on my wish list.

What a fluid passage. "En serrant" over the sighs, which means "pressing forward," so MTT is more faithful to the score than Ansermet

Hi, the copyright guys seem to have got involved now as your link to YouTube gives me " Sorry this video is not available".

Or 'The Colonies' as you guys like to say.

What a treat for the musician! Sad that the copywrite people get involved as I know a lot of folks who love to hear music while holding the score (the wife for one).

I could "Hear" the music just looking at the Score, from listening and following so many hours!
Can't say that about other scores, tho...
