Or has Chris already reviewed the above new release?

Streaming it now, sounds pretty good but I'm no expert on pianists.

FIRST THING I noticed when I saw the CD cover was the 'correct spelling' of the composers last name.

Honest!

but it looks like that is not going to happen. I'll probably get it eventually, once the CDs hit the used market cheap. I've nevere thought of her as particularly strong in Rachmaninoff, but of course, she could change my mind and I'll gladly give her a shot.

. . . earlier today for a new "battle of the babes" in the Rachmaninoff Second. I've just listened to a couple of individual tracks, and, so far, it's not looking good for the babes - either one (especially after I switched over to my Zimerman and Richter albums for comparison!). (I would have switched over to my Byron Janis recording too, but it was too much trouble to get up and get the SACD off the shelf - the Zimerman and Richter recordings were already safely on my hard drive!)

Anyway, for us babe musician admirers, it's possibly depressing (although there's some recompense in contemplating the album covers!). More comments tomorrow likely.

Are you streaming it on Tidal? I see two entries when I search for it. Do you? Any idea why two are there? This seems to happen more than it should.

Sadly, neither seem to be a 'Tidal Master' when I stream it.

Also am streaming from QOBUZ which I prefer even though I suspect there is no real difference in sound quality, yet somehow I prefer the sound of QOBUZ.

Why?

Been looking for a fresh Rach 3. My test is the gorgeous climax in second mov't. Some gorgeous chords that , posted on March 10, 2017 at 07:27:23
some don't allow to ring.

Lots of 'gorgeous' going on here with this CD..., posted on March 10, 2017 at 14:03:39
