I recently heard a well-sorted Dynaco ST-70 driving my ESL 63s and was very impressed with the sound. I would like to hear from those who have listened to or owned this combination of components for any observations you have.

Many thanks,

George

Listened to that combo at my Hi-Fi dealer's home one evening. Vinyl rig playing Mark Almond's Other Peoples Rooms. Caught me off-guard because in the store he ran solid state amps.

Moderate volume level but totally immersed in the music with very a very nice lower midrange weight and bass I didn't realize they could produce.

If I ever had to replace my ARC D-70 the ST-70 would be on my short list.

Thank you for your response. It's good to hear from others with experience with this combination. I have decided to look for an ST-70 to add to my audio gear. My friend was generous enough to lend me his ST-70 so I can listen to it while I'm shopping for my own.

I used a Curcio modified stereo 70 for many years with Quad 57's. It sounded great. Berning EA 230 sounded better with much better bass. Finding a good stereo 70 that has been upgraded should not be too hard.

Just a comment. The Curcio Stereo 70 is not really a Stereo 70, The circuit topology is entirely different. And Berning is one of the true genius audio designers.
