What ever you would like to name it, prototyping this mod has been an interesting and fun journey so far. With the crossover design and voicing work almost done, it's on to the frame design next.

The performance has already exceeded anything I thought possible. I'm very happy with the results and based on my experience with the 1.6qr mods I've done, I believe it's possible to improve the performance considerably more from here.

More details to come soon..........

Maybe a Magnepan 2.8R, a 1.8R or the working man's ".a" for small apartment's, whatever it is, it seems to be the speaker that many Maggie fan's have been clamoring for, every since the 2.6 was discontinued.

Actually the Magnepan .7 with the added True Ribbon tweeter would be the optimal size for aesthetics and to differentiate it enough from the 3.7i. At 15.25 inches, but that is just my opinion. Excellent work, keep it up and thanks for sharing.

You mentioned the 2.6 in your first comment and they were part of my original inspiration for this design. The ribbon tweeters I'm using are from an old pair of 2.6r speakers. The 40" length was perfect for this project.

I thought about testing these on my .7s, but I haven't opened them up yet. It's just hard to give up the foundation the 1.7s have on the bottom end. Your right though, the scale of the .7 with the 40" ribbon would make a very nicely proportioned speaker aesthetically.
