Hi all,
I posted a while back regarding me making a few of these on my own (DIY). It cost me probably $50-100 each, and took about 20 hours to make each one, and that is because I already have the table saw, router and sprayer. They definitely are not as well made as a business mass producing them with a CNC machine, but I have the personal satisfaction of saying "I did it myself!"

I just received an email from GIK on a similar product (exact same style of quadratic diffuser just a different N or root number). I am sure you have all heard of GIK acoustics, I have no affiliation of course, but these are the best items you could place on the front wall for your dipoles. (IMO- no data to back this up)

All I can say is they work! Really well! Just giving people a heads-up on this sale

What were the frequencies chosen for YOUR DIY version?

Any thought given to OTHER than wood?
Too much is never enough

Choosing a frequency was not the primary concern. I don't know how one would choose between 400hz-4000hz vs say 600hz - 5800hz? For me it was choosing a large enough but not too large a diffuser where I could fit 4-5 of them on the wall taking into account the concept of multiple periods. I was going to go with a N-13 but I would only get 2 of them on the wall, but 4 N-11's I feel is better (confirmed with someone who knows more about than I) and the 2 foot width dimension enabled me to get 4 along the wall.

I didn't consider anything other than wood. I think for the same reason most speakers are made from wood: reasonable cheap, ridgid, dense, uniform, easy to cut.

I haven't had good luck with foam diffusers. Too resonant. Wood is heavier and more expensive, but IMO it's the way to go.
