Great soundstage, detail, dynamic range, and coherence. I use a vintage McIntosh tube amp. For the money, a nice choice.

Electrostatics are hard not to like. I've heard the ML 15a's. I've heard the 30.7's. I've heard top tier box speakers. I've heard the Sound Lab 545's (I'd like to hear the 945's). I don't get the "precise sound suspended in the air" quite as much from others as I do from electrostatics.

Placement is kind of hard and the small sweet spot is a problem. I keep moving my head just a bit between recordings.

Also, ML's are expensive compared to Maggie's.

I'm using 3.3s. I bought them cheap years ago and sent them in for re-glue. 1.6s may be more coherent. But I like a fun, enjoyable sound, not just coherence or imaging.
I've heard very coherent gunned 1.6s which were great, but I prefer my 3.3s.
I've also heard an expensive ML system that had perfect imaging - I could see each member of Steely Dan standing around the stage. That was amazing thing that I will alway remember, but it was not fun to me like Maggies are.

In order of sonic improvement:

#1. Put the panels into braced stands (such as Mye Stands).

#2. Get P.Gunn - or any good furniture maker - to make you up some hardwood frames (to replace the stock MDF frames).

#3. Replace the stock XO components with high quality coils & caps.

I'm going to give the intro version a try. Their program works especially well on directional speakers. They use Sanders electrostatics in their listening room. Should work well with LRS.

I ordered a MacBook Air from Costco, with a 90-day return policy. I'm going to run in through the DAC on my Marantz Ruby SACD player. The program comes with a 14-day full refund trial period. If it turns out to be a bust I'll be out nothing.

Maybe it would work on a Hackintosh -- but I'd have to use my old machine, might not be fast enough. If it worked really well, I'd splurge on the eye tracking.

replaced a set of Ohm 4 with the LRS - no contest - LRS blows them out of the water - and I love Omnis !

by the way - got the 4 's for 300 dollars - Doctor in a estate near Mexico border gave them to me for next to nothing - deal of a lifetime

those were an upgrade from a set of 2's that I bought on craigs list for like 250 !

anyway LRS on in a different world from ohm speakers

but REAL WALSH drivers - german physics / ohm f / HRR .... now THOSE are killer

Totally punches well outside it's weight. If not a Magnepan speaker I would suggest the legendary Vandersteen Model 2Ce Signature speaker($3600).

I had a set of the original 2 s bought brand new back in the day for around a grand !

holy shit did they go up in price

they were good - not nearly as good as the LRS tho

played them with a first generation set of Cary 300b monoblocks and a Cat preamp

got rid of them for a set of ALTEC 19 and never looked back

I know this is a planar speaker forum but the Vandersteen 2Ce signature is a far superior speaker than the LRS. I would say without a doubt it blows it away and yes I've heard both and for the price it should. Vandersteen continues its trickled down methods from his flagship speakers and the lower end models have benefited over the years. The 2Ce signature is a great bang for the buck time and phase classic.

Had a pair of 2Ci and then moved up the line to 3A Sigs. Have heard several of the Maggie models over the years, but so far no experience with the LRS. If I wasn't planning to be buried with my ESLs, I'd definitely be looking hard at another pair of Vandys.
