MMG amping options with Integrated that has A+B speakers

The integrated amp I'm considering for MMGs, Onkyo A-9555, has
terminals for two sets of speakers A+B, which of course can
be played at the same time. What are my options in varios ways
of amping/modding the MMGs? Can I bypass MMG's crossovers?

 I wonder if the preamp and amp sections of this moderately inexpensive receiver are good enough to make biwiring, biamping, or a new external crossover worthwhile. Has anyone actually heard this receiver with Maggies?

 Just curious about your choice of the Onkyo integrated? What led choose this unit? I'm not knocking the choice, it just doesn't seem to have a high current output capability. Maggie's, even MMG's, are current hungry. Could there be a better choice for the money?

 Rip them out if you want to get an active crossover and connect 2 amps directly. I put binding posts directly on the drivers, but that is a major modification. Most would just unhook the crossovers and use the existing tabs and some good wire.

Otherwise, if you want to passively bi-amp, you could manke new crossovers and modify them to bi-amp.

 If I remember correctly, when you use both sets of outputs at the same time, it drops the impeadance to the amp providing the same power to both sets. If you want to bi-wire the speakers you can go to both outputs

Do you mean ONE output for biwiring? (Once the necesssary modifications are made that is)

 Use Left from a output to LF and Left from B output to HF and do the same with the Right channel outputs. (Agian only if you set the speaker up for bi-wire. Its almost like getting double the wattage out of your amp. But remember it will tax the amp and possibly burn it out if you kept it cranking for extended periods.

For normal listening you will be doubling the power at the speaker, therefore giving you more headroom

 I agree with you. it just wasn't clear from the post.

Because the amp works harder, I found that on my old infinities, I much prefered a bi-wire from the A terminals vs. running A+B. Bu tthat probably depends on the amp.

Just go the traditonal route, i cant think of any advantage to using both sets of terminals, remember its just an extra set of terminals , not amplfiers.

 Use A or B not both. A or B min. 4ohms, A+B 8 ohm min. Labled right on rear of AVR.
