$hit happens.

Heavy rain and some changes to neighbor's yard caused their huge pine tree to fall across our yard. Barely missed house but landed on ST1300. Some roof damage to garage. Could have been much worse!

My son-in-law had second thoughts when my grandson was quoted $7200 for insurance.

But my problem is that I don't like to ride locally - too much law enforcement - and I can't do the north of North Bay weekends any more due to my wife's health. Are you going to look for a clean ST 1300?

Time to call out an arborist to inspect other trees.

Maybe you can guilt the neighbor into splitting cost and have his trees inspected as well.

I have mixed emotions about trees. Very often beautiful things, but boy oh boy can they be a PITA quite often too.

Too early for me to know. Can't begin to replace it for book value. Not really interested in sinking lots of $$ in new bike.

Maybe someone upstairs is telling me that at age 68, it's time to let go??

My neighbor is a good friend and has already contacted a tree guy we've both used and his contractor for the roof repair. Asked about motorcycle make and model for insurance purposes.

There was once a stand of four trees together and he removed a couple for his current remodeling/new drive project. That's likely the driving factor.

Wow, so sorry to see all that damage. Like you say it could have been much worse and I'm glad no one was hurt. Not being a motorcycle guy I wasn't too upset hearing that your ST1300 was clobbered but I'm glad the S2000 wasn't hit! Hope you get it all taken care of w/o too much hassle.

When my Toyota pickup truck was declared a total loss a couple seasons ago due to hail, my insurance company cut me a check for market value (not wholesale). USAA surveyed retail sales for like Tacoma trucks in the area including dealer lots and private party ads. I was surprised. Good luck!

Yikes i see it poking out.
Hopefully insurance will make it "new".
Wasn't familiar with that model, looked like a gold-wing until i read about it.

Yeah given the choice, I would much rather have the S2000!

The bike got really clobbered. One fitting from the GPS mount was ejected about thirty feet away! Ironically, a garage door opener and GPS located in the right storage bin are fine.

The "sport tourer" is a smaller, faster and lighter bike than a Wing suitable for wifey and me to travel. Wouldn't mind a new one, but they're $25k. And it's really too long to maneuver sideways in the garage to park as I did with the ST.

Neighbor already has a tree guy out taking care of initial tree removal. Irony is we just had some siding replaced and entire house painted. You can see one chunk taken out to left of door into breezeway. Awning over that doorway is toast. There will need to be some touch up!

Good news is I had the interior of the garage painted along with a commercial grade epoxy floor for the Advent based system I keep there. Still need to wait a couple of days of curing before we can start using it. Ripped out old fluorescent lights and am getting a pair of three segment hexagonal LED fixtures on Monday, one for each side divided by LVL.

to see the bright side of things, but we got off comparatively easy given the circumstances.

So many stories of people being injured... Sorry about the bike, but I am sure you are going to love your replacement even more, whatever it is going to be.

Trunk on that sucker was pretty big. Wife is out of town and it was raining cats and dogs at the time. I was in office to the right of the magnolia catching up on Quicken when I heard the fall. WTF!!!

The rest of it is just stuff that can be replaced or repaired. That was a monster tree!

...but that's what insurance is for--and fortunately no one was hurt. At least you suffered minimal damage beyond the bike.

Good luck with clean-up and repairs. Hope you can find a suitable replacement down the road.

I get it. But she served you well. And I know what a hassle it is to get things back to normal.
