She was always one of my favorites. Yeah, she even popped up in an episode of Star Trek (it was "Assignment: Earth."

Her acting was intense and terrific in a smallish role in "Tootsie". Her star turn should have been Coppola's "One From the Heart" which was a flop, all style and no substance. It was beautifully filmed and dazzling on the big screen, but a few years ago I tried watching it on a 60" TV and it didn't translate. Great soundtrack by Tom Waits with Crystal Gayle (!). I didn't know much about Teri Garr before, but she was smokin' hot in that one. And of course, "What knockers..."

. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .

She was 79, I'd thought she was a bit younger. (nt, posted on October 29, 2024 at 15:04:32

...Let It Ride with Richard Dreyfuss and David Johanson (yeah, that guy. From the New York Dolls). Great little movie, largely forgotten.

I think that might be pretty good in terms of beating the odds?

I loved her performance in "Young Frankenstein": "Roll! Roll! Roll in ze Hay!". ;-)

Dreyfuss has never made a bad one and Poindexter has had his moments. Never saw that film, unfortunately for me.

Also unfortunately for me, now I have that crappy BTO song stuck in my head.

And I'm holding you responsible, dude.

Breasts look too "glandular" sometimes. Similar to testicles on a male, I guess. I'm more of a "leg man", I guess.

But very few people have naturally "monumental" looking bodies or body parts that actually seem to embody art, or art objects IMO.

Most of us are stuck with bodies and/or body parts that have the look of "utilitarian designs" or functional entities. This may actually be all for the best in most cases. Otherwise, it's almost as if we're making love to a projection of our own aesthetics instead of a living personality. Or a statue instead of a living being.

Some people might prefer a doll over a human, but that kind of stuff is more for one night stands - not lasting relationships.

The best thing of all might be blind love, or dark love. That, I think, happens when the sense of touch and the exchange of sensual gestures reign supreme over all of the other senses and over all other considerations.

But it can be hard to know exactly what is going when we decide that we really like the way someone is. That might be all for the best, too.

Sure I saw the movie, loved it. 4 stars !!!

I like to ramble on sometimes, that's all. Talking about Teri Garr and breasts and things like that does that to me sometimes...

So just ignore it. Lurk on.

I've had two pernicious ear worms so far this year. Right now is the guitar solo from "Sultans of Swing." I am not now nor have I ever been a Dire Straits fan. Mark Knopfler and that stupid sprechgesang thing of is.
But far worse...earlier this year it was "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by...yeah...her.
Lasted several months.

And we are not Scorsese fans, nor are we Griffin Dunne fans. But Linda Fiorentino, Rosanna Arquette and Terri Garr are just sensational.
