 I heard that both armies are operationally exhausted. And neither really has access to effective reenfocements (Presumably Russia could send in more conscripts that are stale for training).

I figure Putin doesn't want to make the war too big and impactful on Russia because it might stir unrest. But then again, he also sent in an army basically unprepared, so he's not all that savvy.

 A month after the Ukrainian forces took one town, a russian soldier came out of hiding in some basement.

For one full month he lived happily on the food, stored there. I am sure the guy was not missing being abused by his commanders and shot at by the Ukrainians.

As the supplies ran out, he had no choice but to surrender. :)

 Yes, no major activity, but still some events. For instance, in the North the Ukrainians are said to either have reached, or even crossed the russian border. The russians had to take some troops from there to reinforce their main areas.

The russians are making some progress in the middle, still apparently attempting the encirclement, albeit a small one. But moving way too slowly.

The hottest story of the last couple of days has been that crossing the russians have been attempting. It is VERY, very confusing, as the russians seem to be just making repeated attempts at the same, each time getting destroyed by the Ukrainian artillery. By latest count they have lost one full battalion group worth of vehicles and personnel. Everyone is guessing why they are acting this stupidly.

Crossing a river is not to be taken lightly. You have a twenty mile stretch of river to cross, but you actually may only have three or four places that are good enough. If you're on the other side you already know them like the back of your hand. Then you pre-register them with arty and know exactly where to plant mines. There will be even more places to set up a pontoon bridge, but also with no access

 I understand about the location, the roads are scarce there, but the main element of this disaster, to me, and I heard the same from the experts, are the repeated attempts without first neutralizing the Ukrainian artillery, that has already fixed the target position.

Sounds just like the soviet WW2 tactics. The Kremlin ordered this to be taken, and taken it will be... after 20 attacks and many thousands killed, if necessary.

On the plus side, a stalemate makes is less likely Putin will resort to nukes, if you believe that's a risk (I do). Minus side, more Ukrainian civilian deaths.

While I support what Biden is DOING (albeit a bit late) I'd suggest more DOING and less TALK about what we are DOING.

OK, Biden has a base he feels the need to talk to, but talking to his base and the world and thereby the Russians changes nothing. Only makes it more likely that the Russians will feel forced to match escalation with escalation.

That ain't what we are looking for. Short of a solution, Ukraine ends up with no people and Putin ends up with no Army.
