...anyone that believes that science is not political is deluding themselves.

As a retired research scientist/university professor, I can assure you it is. You teach, you conduct research, and then you stay up all night preparing submissions (begging) for research grants/funding. The old phrase "publish or perish" holds true. Your tenure status and your departmental budget DOES depend on it. Piss-off a couple major donors/board members, and you WILL be shown the door. When I was in grad-school, one of my mentor professors was forced-out of his position because he flunked-out a medical student--whose father's last name just happened to be on the side of a wing of a major building on campus. It happens.

"And today is for sale and it's all you can afford. Buy your own admission. The whole things got you bored. Well the Lord chooses the good ones, and the bad ones use the Lord"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP

I thought it a nice change to see a report fighting for science and intellectual rigor , instead of against it, promoting the use of opinions as a substitute for facts.

Typical Americana - Paragon of virtue trampled by corrupt establishment promising to rise from the ashes to once again ride upon his high horse. It's a movie formula I know.

Went looking for a story about corruption and all I found was a story about him.
