Any fans of "replica watches" here?

They're so cheap and they're sometimes copied so well. I just wonder about long-term reliability. Of course, the most popular replicas are Rolexes, but I've had my eye on an Audemars Piguet - a couple of hundred dollars, vs. tens of thousands of dollars. Also, if you get held up and assaulted, you can always say, "Please, sir! - don't kill me! Take my watch instead!", and the robber is not usually going to know you're wearing a fake (unless he's a watch expert!). The fakes seem to have all sorts of advantages to me, assuming that they continue to run after a couple of months! ;-)

Here's a YouTube video explaining the differences between a real and fake Patek Philippe:

My style and persona, even a replica high-end watch just ain't me. And I would rather encourage makers' own efforts rather than spend $ on 'replicas'.

I really don't do low-end like Seiko 5 (tho I own a couple), but I never spend very much on a watch. My daily wear is a Maratac large pilot style (surplus, DoD used to issue to contractors). Tough as nails self wider, based on a Japanese made Citizen pocket watch movement.

No quartz here. Or 'fashion' watches.

LOL. I think I can do Rolex and Seiko too.

Way back when the Bangkok fake watch industry was at its peak I had a couple of $20 Rolex fakes that were fantastic. They lasted for years with just a generic quartz battery movement inside. In the end, corrosion from sweat got into the back and killed them ;-(

I paid $125 for a "Swiss Army" knockoff. A great piece. Then found it was genuine., posted on November 21, 2020 at 21:25:42

Who sells a "genuine" watch for $125? So disappointed.
