 We received our mail-in ballots today, but couldn't fill them out until around 7:00 p.m. because we both had a lot of client work deadlines.

But then we filled them out and scooted right over to the town hall and put them in the drop box.

Then we rewarded ourselves with some Shinro Soju. Plum flavor and green grape flavor! Gag. LOL. Wife's choice! (She exists, but is photo shy!)

So . . . have you voted yet, and how did you reward yourself afterwards?

 I saw some blurb that there was only one polling station in a county of over 4 million people. No wonder the lines are 10 hours.

What I can't figure is that it is a very wealthy oil state and many of the folks working at polling stations are volunteers and the polling places are regular already built buildings. So it doesn't cost that much to run these voting stations.

In my town of Nanaimo, BC there are 90,000 people - last election there were 13 polling places and people still complain there weren't enough. It took less than 15 minutes to vote.

So extrapolating this to the county in (I believe Texas) there should be 578 polling stations in that one county alone to equal my little town.

And then people complain if you vote by mail? 1 station for 4 million 10 hour waits - of course people vote by mail or drop it in a drop box.

 Just went the Massachusetts webpage for tracking ballots and confirmed that both my ballot and my wife's have been received for counting.

The entire process was very easy and orderly.

 I got mine and my other son did as well.

We all got our sample ballots. Now, it's a problem.

Could it have been stolen> Who knows.

 I signed up for BallotTrax on Monday. My ballot was mailed out to me on Friday around 12:53pm. I should have my ballot within a couple days now.

Once I mail it back or drop it off, I'll get a text that it was received, and then another text when it was counted.

 Our daughter in Riverside CA got two identical ballots both time stamped to the same second

 ... by walking inside, and spending the next 5 hours helping to process around 650 absentee ballots submitted this week.

I'm an election official here, and we're delighted by the early absentee response... we only have about 2400 registered voters in town. If we keep up the pace on absentee ballots, we won't have many voters showing up at the polls on Election Day.

Without going into too many details, in-person voting on Nov 3 is likely going to be a real trial here, due to COVID accommodations and a concurrent town measure being voted on a separate ballot. We'll be much more easily able to provide personal and timely service to in-person voters if their numbers are smallish.

I did manage to reward myself tonight for public service I rendered earlier today... Good Bourbon invariably makes me smile!

Sketchy Bourbon? I'd probably have a response similar to yours when you were "rewarded" with Plum Shinro Soju...

 Kind of surprised me - as if anything should. Hey, I'll vote for whoever you want, or no one at all, if you don't make me drink that plum wine. Just sayin'. Maybe that's why Shaq never voted, someone threatened him with plum wine. Of course, the universe aligns.

 I'm kind of surprised people don't just sell their vote. If there is a way to vote and then print some sort of ticket out that shows you who you voted for then you could use that "receipt" as proof that you voted for X or Y.

So a rich guy could pay some poor guy who doesn't vote $100 or $1,000 etc to vote for the candidate they like. There is probably some sort of law against selling your vote but hey scalpers still operate so laws and real life - meh.

 I don't mind some of the Jinro flavours I had when I lived in Seoul. I am saving for the bigger brother to the Audio Note Jinro Shochu power amp.

Audiophiles here should definitely "Rock the Vote" - it seems applicable.

 I quite like plain soju. My wife is from Seoul, and I like drinking with my brothers-in-law. But recently my wife has been on a flavored soju kick. Others have include green apple, green grape, strawberry, mango and . . . yoghurt! The last tasting just like those little yoghurt drinks kids like.

Coincidentally, my sister-in-law is Japanese, which makes for an interesting dynamic!

Nice amp! Is it made in the ROK?

 I am not a big drinker so generally I am more able to do the flavoured drinks like the Grape Jinro over the regular stuff. So in Singapore I quite enjoyed their famed Singapore Sling. Especially at the Raffi Hotel where it was invented.

Koreans can drink - I believe there is more soju sold in the world than Smirnoff Vodka and considering most of the world drinks Smirnoff and not Soju/Jinro then it illustrates how much Koreans pack it away.

Audio Note UK is made in England and the owner of the company, Peter Qvortrup, names all his amps in Japanese. So the Ongaku is Japanese and very expensive - when it came out in 1989 it was the most expensive amp out there I believe at $89,000. Then they made less expensive versions (same design same casework but less expensive parts. The Tomei is in the middle and since Peter liked Soju he named the entry level version of the three the Jinro. Entry level at $30k but anyway.

I have the OTO (at the time their entry level integrated) and there is a SORO, Kageki, Kegon, Baransu, Ankoru, Shinri, Kassei,Ginrei, and Gaku-On.

So Jinro is kind of the black sheep being named for a Korean drink.

I am a ways off being able to get into a Jinro or Tomei. And I still may opt for one of their other amplifiers. They kind of make a ridiculous number of power amps, mono-blocks, integrated amps and usually 3-9 versions of each one.

And when you see the bill you'll want to drink a case of Jinro! LOL.
