"So far, no one has managed to hold UV disinfection inside a person," he said. "We figured out how to do this."

It's the Russians doing this work. Coincidence? I don't think so.

What I don't understand is where they were hiding these nurses back when I was a twenty something. For the first half of my life I seemed to have been cared for by nurses that looked like "Misery's" Kathy Bates in a bad mood.

After a few dozen years of perfect health, I come up positive on a Fecal Occult exam and get scheduled for a colonoscopy. Imagine my horror to be wheeled into the exam room, feeling every day of my age, with my bottom sticking out from under my "gown," only to see at least four pretty girls in nursing uniforms waiting for me. If I had been a bartender I would have carded everyone of them

While my brain is thinking that this must be some sort of practical joke, they start grabbing and pulling and pushing and attaching things to me in a highly rehearsed and practiced manner. It was as if, despite appearing as sixteen year olds to my eyes, they knew what they were doing. Then a guy, with a thick, I'm guessing African accent walks in and greets me solicitously. Once he's sure I'm comfortable he changes to a completely curt attitude and begins ordering around the girls like a drill instructor.

I immediately go black and stay that way with the exception of an involuntary "Ow!" as my prostate was flattened by a practiced finger. I wake up to the thick accent guy flipping through print outs of photos he took of the inside of my bowels showing me before and after removal of the polyps. He then darts away and only turns back when I shout out "Doctor" to him. When he looked back I managed to say "Thank you." before he nodded and disappeared.

It seems modern specialist MDs don't really bother with bedside manner.

It's more like National Enquirer than Scientific American.

Per Wikipedia "Unlike most large American magazines, Newsweek has not used fact-checkers since 1996. In 1997, the magazine was forced to recall several hundred thousand copies of a special issue called Your Child, which advised that infants as young as five months old could safely feed themselves zwieback toasts and chunks of raw carrot (to the contrary, both represent a choking hazard in children this young)."

Give us this day our Daily Beast?

From the article:

"where he made a number of controversial remarks regarding possible COVID-19 therapies."

It's always interesting, and often telling, to pay attention to how people word what they say. Case in point: "controversial remarks". What controversy? Is it controversial to ask "Can this be done" or "How could we do this"? Aren't such questions the essence of exploration, research, discovery, and problem-solving?

Paying attention to wording, adjectives and "labels" provides useful insight into the presenter's viewpoint.

And the Russians are the culprits! How do we know? - because our MSM tells us so every day! (Or wait - maybe our enemy is China today - Darn, I can't keep track!)

'And the Russians are the culprits!'

they are definitely a major player on the world stage

and certainly not an ally

'How do we know?'

you can both read the reports that are out there plus watch what they do

no 'MSM' needed

the only friendly actions I've noted is being an Uber to space

'I can't keep track'

it is fatiguing but I'm confident that you can if you want to

best regards,

Yeah! The nerve of those people! Putting the borders of their country right next to where we have our missiles pointed at them!

indeed ... which handily explains the nuclear aspirations of the NORKS

so we play chicken with warcraft in neutral territories both on the sea and in the air with the Russkies and Chinese

which is a lot more specific than seeing enemies 'everywhere'

to digress further ... what's the mindset of those countries inconveniently located on top of 'our oil' ???

as I said, it's a big bad beautiful world

at least we get a free trip around the sun though

Unfortunately, the virus, and people staying put has pretty much resulted in a glut of product and made domestic energy unprofitable at this time. It will have long term ramifications. It's a big engine. It doesn't start up like your lawn mower.

you're spot on there srdavis, there's a lot of inertia involved. entropy as well.

Well, if they had a gas that one inhales and they expose the body to a strong electromagnetic field, maybe they can induce the gas molecules to emit ultraviolet. Seems farfetched, though, and certainly not likely to make a difference to this current Coronavirus.

Next, a safe, injectable bleach formula will be under research by the CDC. Why not, as they have nothing else to do as they hardly helped during this coronavirus episode.

Can't wait for my next colonoscopy. Maybe by then they can attach a UV light to the end of the colon snake

I watched my last procedure on the big screen TV at the colonoscopy factory*. I was laying on my side in a private room when I woke up half-way through the procedure. I viewed my insides on the big screen TV on the wall as my doctor navigated the colon snake camera. More than you wanted to know!

*I call it the colonoscopy factory because that's all they do there ;-)

I've had many colonoscopies. I'm a polyp factory. So far, they have all been beneign. The first one I ever had, I was awake and the intern invited me to watch. They even showed me my polyp. There was a little lasso tool that went over it and burned the neck and it off and it disappeared. None of this was painful. Since then, they have started sedating people.

I also woke up during one and tried to raise up. I heard the anesthesiologist say, "Give him more?", and the doctors "Yes" and I was out again.

I regretfully have one scheduled for July.

my town's colonoscopy doc put me to sleep. I vaguely remember a conversation with the nurses about passing gas that probably turned embarrassing for me while going under.
