Taco Bell TV advert 'puffery' is so annoying. Reality is 1/10 the meat...

I think Taco Bell should be stopped from using such blatant puffery in their ads.
The images shown on TV have at least ten times the meat on the items that the 'real' taco has.
Pathetic.

And not only is it one tenth.. That stuff have what tiny percentage of actual 'meat products' LOL

They show a "footlong" steak sandwich just crammed with meat for $6.

Even if you ordered double meat (at extra cost), you wouldn't come close to the amount they show.

Might explain why I eat fast food about twice per decade these days.

Most advertisements are exaggerated. I love Subway though. They will put tons of veggies on your sandwich. It's kind of a meat flavored veggie sandwich the way I have mine built.

I don't know. Maybe you should contact them, and report back to us.

"puffery".

Show us an ad image which represents what you're talking about, along with an image of an actual taco of the same type which you purchased. THEN, you'll have some credibility - or not.

It's bull shit. Most ads contain deception, misinformation, lack of really important information and the list goes on including outright lies such as Taco Bell and pizza ads that show a shitload of cheese as a slice is grabbed. Total lies. We have the FTC to protect us but they don't. Just goes to prove what a fascist country the USA is turning into.....Money rules

Someone your age needs proof? You are naive or stupid or never ate Taco Bells crap. Not the issue. Commercials for most segments of industry and all food commercials lie and misrepresent quality and size. So you do know. Why are you trying to question his accuracy? We all know. You should go to Taco Turd and compare and report back to us as punishment for even trying to support the other side of the argument. Maybe you are just a corporate apologist.

They have been producing "doctored" photographs of food for decades. Often, what you see isn't even the actual food.

As for Taco Bell, what I get for the princely sum of $1.19 looks pretty much like the pic I got off their website. That and a bean burrito for under three bucks including tax and senior discount. :)

Don't be an apologist for them and their dogfood. How can you eat that crap. Watch the commercial. I've seen it. If tacos looked like that they might be good.

Styling the food to look it's best and lying by showing bigger better portions to mislead people are two different things.

I have no idea how anyone who has eaten good Mexican food can eat that shit. It would be like replacing your system with a Soundesign or Juliette.

Really? You actually believe any food portrayals on TV? You are naive. I think you owe it to yourself to do the research so you can wake up to the times. Here is he commercial now go buy be. You have 72 hours to report back. We only care if the product was honestly visually represented. None of this what do you want for a dollar bullshit. Whether it's a dollar or a million I insist on honesty.

You've come full circle. You come on here accusing companies of showing food ads which, in your opinion, are fake and not reality, yet you yourself sell and promote what can only be called "magic crystals" which you claim will make a person's audio system sound better - with ZERO evidence for either.

You may, if you're interested in reality, want to watch an episode of "Chef At Large" with chef Michael Smith, from Canada, where the topic is "food styling".

In the meantime, I'm still waiting for the OP's "still image" from the ad he presumably references, along with a photo of a taco he's purchased from there. Until then, he has ZERO credibility. He might even be a shill for Taco Bueno or some other company for all we know.

Anyone that thinks the product you see on tv is going to look the same as in the add in the store ( taco, burger, pizza etc. )is delusional.

Its a photo shoot. They "fluff" things.

I bet ya there's the same amount of product in the photo shoot taco & what you get in store. In the photo shoot they stuff the bottom of the shell with cotton to push the rest of the rest of the ingredient's up & look fuller, & then every thing is placed just right. Fluff!

Text them & complain. They will send you coupons for some free food.

How about this? find a fast food printed add, cut it out & take it in to the store with you. You get your whatever thing you ordered & hold the pic. up to it. If it doesn't look like it complain, talk to the manager.

I bet they will make you one that looks just like your pic.

But I don't know if I would want to eat it.

...so I went to the local outlet and ordered my favorite: Taco Supreme Combo w/crunchy tacos. What I got looked almost exactly like what was on the drive-thru menu board: truly a fair representation of the product I received. And it was mm-mm good! Only thing that might be improved is the diced tomato things. Pink and pretty tasteless but about what one expects at this time of year.

Is this thread about Taco Bell or advertising in general ? Or is it about people getting ripped off all the time ? for example, what does a five pound can of coffee weigh ? It keeps on changing. They keep saying that it is stronger coffee so you use less but they are full of shit. They must like dishwater. While I did stop drinking coffee years ago I remember liking it strong. you should not be able to see through a cup of coffee.

Years ago I found a nail in a burrito from Taco Bel. I went and got my money back on the whole order, and that was substantial. Didn't eat there for many years. Then I figure "What are the odds ?" and tried again. It was alright for a while but then it seems they changed their recipce. The meat mix was, well, it tasted like someone threw ketchup in it or something. That day they were done. Another new and improved thing.

I used to eat quite a bit of fast food and I can tell you they all cheat on the ads, with one possible exception - Rally's. But the thing you have to realize is that every branch of the franchise is not the same. For example bullthead puts up pictures of pizza from what, Papa John's ? Here, it would cost about $25 to get a pizza that looked like his, so he must have a good one. Remember Little Caesar's ? I think they were the forerunners of Papa John's. got it around me and it sucked. But went over to someone's house and had it and it was surprisingly good. Even the old standbys like McD's and Burger King, they do vary quite a bit. Also Wendy's.

These places are all independently managed.

But, there is not much to do but boycott. you gonna sue over the amount of meat in a taco ? I think not, not even in a class action lawsuit. hell, in the US the media (Fox specifically but it applies to them all) went to court to gain the right to knowingly lie with total impunity. They can say anything they want and they have been caught recently. But under US law this is not actionable.

As far as the OP is concerned, I would take a picture of what he wants, the actual ad, and just point to it. Don't say a word. go sit at a table and open it. when it is not the same, take it back up to the counter and complain. Do it while the place is moderately busy. Tell them you either want your money back or make it right. That is the only way. Used to be you could bitch to local news stations but they all been bought up. News shows used to have consumer advocacy people who exposed local frauds and so forth. When was the last time you saw that ?

And when was the last tie you even saw a local business advertise on TV anyway ? The fact is they have all been outbid. Indeed, the goal of big business is to drive small business out. Does your local paper even have a classified section ? Have you looked into the rates lately ? You could get four lines, four days, four bucks. That was back when they had good circulation. Now they are dying and instead of making their rates attractive they raise them and drive people away. they must have went to one of those fancy business schools. Just like the economists, dumber than a box of rocks. I talk economics with someone disagreeing with the pundits on TV and they say "That guy has a degree and bla bla bla" to which I respond "Yup, heis the type who got us into this mess".

Don't buy anything new. You can learn to make your own tacos better than Taco Bell, done it. Even the nachos bel grande, mine is better and I don't make the mistake of piling it on the chip making them soggy.

Plus, fast food is killing people.

But back to the ads. Advertising now tells me what NOT to buy. Especially TV advertising after I looked into it may years ago. You pay millions of dollars for that advertising if you buy that product. Keep that in mind.

Don't even get me started on pizza places, posted on January 7, 2017 at 03:45:09
I like Taco Bell. For a couple of dollars, it's WAY better than McD. Taco Cabana makes a good huge burrito, but their hard taco shells suck - they're mushy by the time you get 'em home. For the same money, Taco Casa is pretty good, as is Los Lupas.

But pizza place ads?, don't even think about believing Domino's or Papa Jim/John. Pizza Hut is iffy. Papa Murphy, however, delivers the goods - except you have to pick it up, which is fine by me.

BTW: Still waiting for the evidence from the OP.

:)

Moreover, there is no nominee yet for Secty. of Agriculture, so we are facing a possible future awash in pink slime (in addition to orange slime).
