Mike,
Are the TL404's the only autoformer you make? I was thinking of an experiment with some Maggies and monoblock tube amps. Might be a dumb idea but I thought I'd ask. Do you have an autoformer that would bring up the 4 ohm of the Maggies to 8 or 16?

Take a look at the Peerless A-262 output autoformer.

Copy and paste the link above.

If the link does not work for you use the search box and type in A-262

It should bring up two posts about this autoformer.

Thanks Mike,
Wow, 6 pounds! Definitely bigger than I thought, maybe I can put them in a crossover box behind the Maggies. So a couple of questions;
1) Is this an expensive job to request, I would like to add it to my next order from you.
2) I have a number of transformers from you, what's proper storage? Now, anything not in an amp is in a bin wrapped in packing paper. They are not temp or humidity controlled but Bay Area weather is mild compared to the rest of the country.
Thanks,
Alonzo

Hello Alonzo:

For storage mostly common sense stuff. Keep dry, keep out of really damp conditions.

I have built the A-262's in the past though it's been a while. So I should have all the tooling yet... i.e., the correct arbors for the winding machine. And I do have the correct size laminations in stock.

Re: pricing. In the 1958 Peerless catalog this item listed for $31.00. That was fifty eight years ago. For fun I had used one of those inflation calculators two years ago and it spit out $255 in 2014 dollars.

email me and let me crunch some numbers to work up a price for you if you have a continued interest in this guy.
