Was just talking about Pat Metheny yesterday to an old college friend that introduced me to Pat Metheny's music. The album was First Circle which I loved. Still Life Talking is probably my favorite. I saw Metheny a few years ago with Chris Potter and Antonio Sanchez. Exceptional!

I still think his first white album was the best he did....

Over time I got more and more irritated with his slidey guitar sound and his particular euphonic brand of jazz rock. Maybe his albums are over-produced - he was exciting when I saw him live.

I can't say I disagree. I stopped buying Metheny in maybe 1989.

I saw him in concert in '82 and think this was his peak. There was still a lot of Lyle mays influence in the music.

I am not sure I ever heard that one.
