The album was First Circle which I loved. Still Life Talking is probably my favorite. I saw Metheny a few years ago with Chris Potter and Antonio Sanchez. Exceptional!

Over time I got more and more irritated with his slidey guitar sound and his particular euphonic brand of jazz rock. Maybe his albums are over-produced - he was exciting when I saw him live.
