Another jazz great born in 1930

Best Bassist, Downbeat International Critics' Poll (1967-74). Davis played just as much classical music as jazz, under conductors like Stravinsky, Bernstein and Boulez. Quite a guy.

Sonny Rollins, 93 and Benny Golson, 94 are the only two survivors from Art Kane's Great Day in Harlem 1958 photograph.

Others quite old are Lou Donaldson 96, Louis Hayes 85, and Shelia Jordan 94

Ahmad Jamal is 92.
