I already have the 2245H's and 2123H's, so these are the next step in completing my parts gathering for my JBL 4345II project.

The 2420's and 2307's are in excellent condition and you know the Kenrick 2308 lenses are excellent as well.

My 2245H's are going in to be reconed this Friday. Can't wait to get them back. This will give me more time for the construction of these massive cabs. I hope I don't end up regretting this project since its very expensive and time consuming.

I did have a pair of Pioneer HPM900 series speakers which sound really nice in my system. I was told by a person that had 900's and 4345II's that the 4345 sound way better!

Today I went to check out my 2420 diaphragms and got a surprise. Bad and good news. When opened them up this it what I found! The bad was one diaphragm is damaged and not the same as the other. The damaged one is an after market diaphragm. The other looks original and in good condition.

The Good news is I had already purchased the Radian replacements 16 ohms. So I will just replace them both.

The foam on one is cracking and falls apart when touched, the other is in better condition.

JBL Foilcal for the 4345's and some JBL speaker mounting kit hardware. I also ordered some JBL 2405's, this will complete my speaker list of 2245H's, 2123H's which will be made into 2122H's, 2420's, 2307's and 2308 lenses, 2405's super tweeters.

Now I have to finish gathering the Baltic Birch wood which I have half of it already. Then need to decide if I want to make an external Xover (Kenrick style) or internal Xover.

Now the hard part/s begin! :)

that's a mighty fine project

I heard those long ago on Mac SS, Revox front end

they were impressive & I guess 'immersive' ... in a 'nice' room

forgive me for not following the thread but what will you drive them with?

regards,

Two Crown power amps, XLS 2502 and XLS 1502 in Bi amp mode. I have seen that this will give better sonic performance due the voltage driving of the lower end drivers. I will also do the Charged Coupled crossovers like JBL did.

I do have two other amps for the upper end if the Crown don't do it. I have an Edge M8 amp and my VTA-120 tube amp.

I'm still undecided if I want to do a internal or the external crossover like Kenrick does. Most likely will do the external crossovers.

I know when you do a the Charge Coupled xover you don't really need to use expensive high quality capacitors. I will still probably use the Jantzen Superior Z caps on the upper end part of the Xovers. These are some really nice caps for not too much.

I agree on the caps, and I would surely want tubes 'up top' if they mesh well with the system ... I'm actually excited about this project for you, it should be hella cool!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the completion of your project! I LOVE big JBLs!
Hope you're going to post some pictures as you build the cabs :-)

I thought I would jump on these since I will need them down the road. Now all I need is the JBL Super tweeter for the 4345's and I'm done with my parts.
