Fired up my new Marantz Ruby last night. Wow! Right out of the box she sounds beautiful. Dimension up the ying yang. The Ruby is the ahh in that old adage.

Yes, I felt the same way about the SA10, which is almost the same beast.

Hi Ozzy, I have the SA-KI Ruby also and love it but I only have my Rega Apollo to compare it to. If it weren't for the Corona lockdown I'm sure I would have compared it to the DACs of one or two of my buds but I haven't yet. Just curious, what have you compared the Ruby to?

Also I seem to think discs played sound better than ripped via my computer, but that could be (probably is) because I have a pretty pedestrian computer setup. Have you found the same?

TIA

It displaced a Sony SCD-777ES with all of the Allen Wright mods, including the Uber clock. You can do the comparisons, I'll just listen to music.

There is a point where it sounds so good it is a waste of time swapping stuff in and out to see what front end sounds better in my rig. The player we've both got is IT. Let the MDs and CEOs that can afford the supposedly superior DCS stack buy them and impress their friends with their latest toy in shoot outs. We both have a player that plays music beautifully. And unlike said MDs and CEOs, we have the time to sit back and actually listen to music on our rigs.
