If you're lucky, they go up in smoke sometimes. Otherwise you deal with a burned open PCB trace.

Having owned three ARC preamps, their internal packaging is great and the box is strong. Is your point to say the shipper is dumb? Not putting the ARC box into a larger plain brown box is advertising that this is an expensive item - steal me! Or something else?

I didn't expect to see a shipping box from a noted high-end audio manufacturer...... I guess that was my point...... (It would have been over 100 times more likely to see a "Bose" shipping box..... ) It was kind of a pleasant surprise, actually.

I don't know anybody locally (Phoenix/Glendale, AZ) who uses Audio Research gear. Although there are probably a lot of audiophiles in town who I've never encountered, and never will....

Seeing that box would have given me a cheap thrill too. I live in Phoenix my electronics are almost entirely ARC.

The box looked pristine...... Appeared to be factory sealed..... I'd guess it was a new item.

The box was large, I'd also guess it was likely a power amplifier.

are Really Big!!! Attached is a pic of the packaging for my sold LS27. ARC doesn't skip on packaging their items and they do it right.
