the $2,000,000 'Opera only' amp:
article

specs:

This unquestionably gorgeous state of the art amp features six 30 kW triple-insulated toroidal transformers, 2,112 high current bipolar transistors, half a dozen fan coolers to keep running temperature under control, 24 analog (RCA/XLR) inputs and six digital, 12 output channels, and 192 speakON connections. It's reported capable of producing an awe-inspiring 160,000-watts of power (though the specs show output configurations of 2 x 60,000 W RMS, 6 x 20,000 W RMS or 12 x 10,000 W RMS), and has been designed to handle any speaker load.

It looks like something more suited for a sound system in a large football stadium than for audiophile applications............

That would be swell with some K-horns, like about five pairs.

Good luck powering it up.

I don't know of any homes with 400-VAC electrical service.

gonna cost to put an outlet or a few but if you have the money for the amp, what is a few thousand for the special wiring needed to run it.

2 tons and 4 foot dimension at it's narrowest.

Going to have to remove some windows to get it in!

It's actually meant for pretty large places/venues. Came out in 2013, with a smaller predecessor in 1998. So it's really not that new. 6 or 12 channel configurations.

Was mentioned in a thread here around 2014. Some of the same people posted back then as well.

Not sure what any of the smaller (assuming home friendly) components are like. Be curious to find out.

Cheers!

Jonesy

P.S. The site takes a while to load. Though much streaming going on here could be effecting it.

A Wrapped Tranny tweak? Hmm, I thought. Then I saw they were in storage!

The 2+2's like the 275? I ran mine years back with a Bedini 25/25 which astounded my dealer.

The Jadis has been out of order for 2.5 years. I went back to mc275 when the Jadis quit.

No need to repair the Jadis.

I don't think it is really suitable for normal audio but what would be a blast for a glorified PA system.

A Bugatti is far more cool and makes far more sense.

Even a wee model Bugatti.

Just my opinion... why? I understand the idea of creating something new and advanced, but 2M? So many other things in this world need our attention. Another of example of excess.

This is really some old news. That photo appears to come from Munich High End 2013. I was there and saw it but it was only a static display.

I am not really sure that it is (or, probably by now, was) a real commercial product even if it had been given a nominal price. It struck me as a "I did it because I could" kind of object, like the world's longest sausage or a model of St. Peters, Rome constructed from matchsticks.
