Bonham's auction is 27 Mar 2017, 13:00 EDT

"An Abbey Road Studios EMI TG12345 MK IV recording console used between 1971-1983, housed in Studio 2, the console which Pink Floyd used to record their landmark album, The Dark Side of the Moon."

Claimed in the details to be the best-sounding console in the world. See link.

Happy bidding.

Very interesting piece of equipment, as is anything coming out of that studio from that time in history.

$50.

Just to get the auction started.

I'm out after $52.

Cool. Although, there's probably a reason why they're selling it rather than keeping it.

Think it through. Can any studio make more money with that console than Abbey Road? No. Can Abbey Road make more money with more modern electronics and systems? Yes.

"Yester-year" had some great stuff which is inadequate and expensive to retro-fit for today's recording/production needs. Still, it may be useful or at least nostalgic to someone.

I hope it goes to a good home where it will continue to be used to create great sound and music.

:)

Electronic or mechanical parts may not operate or may not comply with current statutory requirements.

It's really cool, but more of a museum piece than a functional one.

Awesome bit of history. Wonder how many hours those capacitors racked up?

Just to mention that it isn't Abbey Road Studios that is selling it. It is its owner since 1983, Mike Hedges.

Thanks for that.

Ya know, every time I've been in a studio that has a rich history, I can almost feel the energy of sessions which were tracked or mixed there. It's like the room and the equipment are alive and just waiting for their next adventure or to tell a story of something they've experienced.

Wonder why Abbey Road studios got rid of it in the 80's?
