I was forced to listen to him as a child, too young to appreciate classical music. However, he's still pretty much the same as he was long, long time ago, but he's still great. What talent! His humor is still in the context of serious classical music, but its not dated, unless you want to go for silly interpretations, such as Spike Jones or Peter Schikele.
