I currently own a Bel Canto DAC2 and was wondering if the W4S DAC would be considered an upgrade? Also, if you use the W4S DAC digital volume control, does it loose resolution?

I am not interested in Hi Rez music yet. I would be interested in using W4S as a pre amp provided it sounds tube like.

I love mine as a DAC and headphone amp, and will be trying it as a preamp later this week.

I've read on other forums that the DAC 2.5 is an upgrade over the DAC3.
"If you are the owner of a new stereophonic system, this record will play with even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. In short, you can purchase this record with no fear of its becoming obsolete in the future."
