I can't find it in a search but I remember someone here recommending an unusual performance of the Requiem by a small group or some unusually intimate forces. Anybody remember that?

You also might look into Matthew Best on Hyperion. You won't regret it, I think.

Bob,

I was part of an interchange with Tim about just such an item. He was praising the Jeremy Summerly conducted Faure "Requiem" on Naxos (8.550765), and I mentioned Philippe Herreweghe's version on Harmonia Mundi (HMC 90881).

There is the recording by John Rutter which fits the bill, I think.
