Arabella Steinbacher's Pentatone recording with Gustavo Gimeno and the Luxembourg PO showed up last night among the new releases on Apple Music - I didn't realize that Arabella's new version would be hot on the heels of Nicola's release from a couple of weeks ago:

I haven't been able to listen to this new recording yet, but here's the tale of the timings for each movement:

Nicola Benedetti: 23:09 / 9:06 / 8:48
Arabella Steinbacher: 24:27 / 9:27 / 10:23

Quite a difference in the outer movements - I look forward to hearing Arabella's new performance! And, like Nicola's recording, Arabella's is available in Dolby Atmos!

And now, for something a little different - although still on the subject of babe violinists. Here's another new release which also showed up on Apple Music last night, although Amazon won't have a. . . uh. . . physical disc available until May 2:

If you're a leg man, then Va-va-va-VOOM! Now THAT's what I'm talking about! And as you can see, it will be available on 12" vinyl (the better to study the photographic techniques of the cover picture) as well as the 5" CD. Finally, a babe violinist who has taken up the multiple gauntlets thrown down by Yuja so many times over the years. Not only that, but Esther's repertoire shows she truly believes in feminism, with repertoire such as Ethyl Smith's "March of the Women" and her own "Transmission" - take THAT, patriarchy!

EDIT: D'oh! I almost forgot, Esther's new recording is ALSO available in Dolby Atmos! What a wonderful world!
