Digital power cord

 I'm currently in the process of "tying up some loose ends" in my system, having recently replaced my old speaker cables and preamp to amp ICs with Synergistic Research Tesla Precision Reference from the used market. The Teo GCII that had run from the preamp to the power amp is now serving from my DAC/streamer to the preamp.

I recently ran across a post stating fairly definitively that the power cord on a digital source should be upgraded before the ICs. That seems counter intuitive to me. Can someone enlighten me as to reasons for doing it in that order? I'm not saying that it isn't so - there's just a gap in my understanding that I'd like to address.

 What was the reason stated for upgrading one before the other? A digital component is no different than an analog component when it comes to the order of cable upgrades. If a stock power cord is in use, I would suggest a digital cable upgrade first, especially if the current digital cable is a cheap one. Then upgrade the power cord in order to optimize the potential of the upgraded digital cable.

 A digital cable is only in use from the CD transport to the PS Audio Directstream Jr, right now a Siltech optical quartz glass Toslink or an older LAT coax, but the CD transport doesn't get used much. The vast majority of my digital listening is streaming from my cloud drive or over the internet.

I don't think the OP stated a reason - only that he felt (and many others did as well) that a power cord upgrade would yield more benefit.

 makes an obvious difference on Sony 5400 and HAP Z1.
Even with Clarus Crimson ICs already in place.
Why wait?
