I discovered again the online seller offering the best price for the EIZZ Platinum XLR connector, which is by far the best sounding XLR connector for a DIY AES/EBU digital cable build, IME.

Tellurium copper base metal, platinum plated; Teflon dielectric; aluminum barrel; soldered or solderless set-screw termination method options.

 I've purchased several items via AliExpress without any problems. They have a good shopping cart system, and a message center with built-in translation so the sellers can communicate well with customers. While there is not the safety margin of PayPal and the eBay feedback system, using a major credit card provides enough financial security for me to continue shopping there if the price is better via AliExpress than the price of the same product listed on eBay.

 Are these Xhadow XLR bootlegs? I know you like the sound of the EIZZ XLR Connectors but have you noticed any difference in sound from different suppliers?

I did buy some Xhadow XLR connenctors (very similar looking) and you are correct about cable ends making a difference. These launched some average 7 conductor 26 gauge silver wire in Teflon interconnects into another sonic universe.

Much deeper sound stage and greater differentiation between vocals and instrumentalist. I could finally understand all the words Ian Anderson was singing in Bursting out.

Maybe one day I will try these EIZZ to see if they match the performance of the Xhadow.

My experience when buying pretty audio parts on EBAY or other over seas markets has not been very good. I fell for some shiny Rhodium Speaker terminals on EBAY. In the description they indicated the base metal was copper. These "copper" terminals wound up sticking to the bucking magnet on my speaker making me doubt the base metal. I now doubt that the silver finish is Rhodium. More than likely its Chrome. They are still very pretty, but I don't want waste my time hooking them up. What does a Chrome speaker terminal sound like?

 My previous post could be taken the wrong way. Your post here and your post in other threads which talk about interconnect termination pushed me off the fence and encouraged me to butcher my silver interconnects I bought on another site years ago. Thank You. It was both costly and frustrating.

Frustrating because silver is soft and I kept over tightening the screws and cutting the conductors.

 In my experience, EIZZ products are manufactured by a bonafide audiophile-quality company, and their products have been consistently high-quality. I also use the Xhadow XLR, and the EIZZ XLR design is a similar copy of the Xhadow XLR design (but the Xhadow XLR is silver plated), so it could be considered a high-performance knockoff, but in my experience EIZZ connectors are indeed very high-quality, not cheap or fake counterfeit products. EIZZ also makes seemingly excellent XLR jacks that feature the same materials including a Teflon dielectric which in great part makes the design superior to ordinary pro audio XLR connectors. I do agree that many audio connectors listed on eBay and AliExpress are more about looks rather than sound, and that's a pity since folks can be deceived by that factor. In the case of EIZZ, the price of their products are not inexpensive, but the performance level is excellent for the price.
