When as a DIY electronics hobbyist teen in the 70s, I learned some important lessons via the FET-5 modification of the Dyna PAT-5 I purchased from him. Understood the value of quieter, more linear parts and the importance of stiff power supplies.

Following his lead with the Double Dyna 400, I added a similar outboard power supply box quadrupling the capacitance (along with upgraded bridge) of an Audire Model One. Dynamics, transparency and bass punch were improved and the sucker would play on thirty seconds after power down!

Many years ago I sent Frank my Dynaco FM-5 tuner. I was totally unprepared for how great it sounded when it came back. It just blew away my Magnum Dynalab Etude. Like you, I remember the Dyna 400 and copied the outboard power supply mods on my Phase Linear 400. I always retained an interest in and followed any new product he introduced.

Sorry to hear about his passing. My condolences to the family.

A big loss. They seem to be piling up, don't they?

His products are still available. His daughter or daughter in-law runs the Co. There is still an in-house engineer who does most of the designing and product changes...
