Individual gain, resistance and capacitive loading, all for under $400 street price. It does use a tube output buffer stage, but all gain stages are SS.

I think I recall you saying that EH tubes sounded nice in that unit, correct? Two 12AX7s as I recall.
With all the switch settings and so on, can you tune it to a particular cart? That is, tame a bright one or bring out some detail from another one?

They are only OK, IMHO. The EHs were much better, the groove tube Mullard replicas (early run), better still. The New Sensor Mullards should be killer in the JD-9.
