For those of us who are unfamiliar with either cartridge, can you say what are the retail prices of the Crown Jewel, Shelter 501, and Shelter 901, respectively? Is this an instance of marketing chicanery? Is the CJ way more costly vs the S501? Is so, can you be certain that there is not some internal difference between the two that could account for the price differential?
I paid $650 for my 501. I believe the 901 is exactly double that - $1300. The CJ, as I last heard, was around $2700.
I think Terry's numbers are correct. The CJ was originally sold in the US by Steve Klein of Sounds of Silence. I do not know if the cartridge is being sold by that company any more. It is not on their web site. It might be that, in view of the publicity about the Shelter 501 and the Crown Jewel SE, the company stopped marketing the CJ.

Crown Jewel I don't know. Shelter 501 around $500, 901 around $700. I understand the Crown Jewel is way up there. If Garth says the CJ is the 501, then it's the 501, period! He knows of which he speaks.
The Shelter 501 is approx. $700, the 901 $1300 when purchased direct from the exporter in Japan.
