Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong with the set up of my VPI Scoutmaster JMW-9 tonearm with a Clearaudio Virtuoso wood cartridge?
Despite having set everything up per the instruction manual, I cannot get the cartidge stylus to clear the surface of the record when I use the tonearm lift. I raises but not enough to lift off the record's surface. I've adjusted the tonearm height to its maximum level but this doesn't fix the problem. The tracking force is et to 2 grams, the recommended weight/
What am I doing wrong, or not doing?

I had the same problem and did the following. Put the needle onto the records surface. With the cueing lever in the dropped position adjust the height of the the cueing mechanism via the set screw on the side so that the arm just clears the supporting piece of the lift. Voila! When you now raise the cueing lever you should be fine. Hope this is clear and helps. Thanks,
