It's time to reorder cleaning fluid for my 16.5.Just wanted to try to get a consensus on what fluid(vpi brand or other) most are using with their machines?
Thank you.

that helped me with this topic, especially to one member that has made a very gracious offer. It's funny...but(in general) I have always found vinyl owners to be kind of "warm and fuzzy types", much like music played on tt's.
I find it superior to home mixes I once used.Another thing I like is that it appears to leave little or no residue even after evaporating off a moderately damp LP. My well over 10 years old VPI 16.5 has been less effective of late at removing fluid. Hence, after cleaning I wave the LP to air dry the remaining fluid. The results appears identical to when the machine did a more effective drying job by itself.

Avoid VPI's formula unless you're planning to use it all up quickly as it goes 'bad' if stored (non-refrigerated anyway) after 6 months or so (white fuzzy strands develop). At least this was true of their formula back 10 years ago. They may have changed it completely since then, that I wouldn't know.

With my 16.5, I used to use RRL, but Tom Port convinced me to try Disc Doctor with 2 vacuum wands. This gets very subjective, but I think I like DD better--less surface noise, etc. Not a one step method, however. I do three steps, all with record rotating: 1)DD fluid scrub, wipe off with tissue 2)spray with distilled water, light scrub with second DD brush, vacuum with VPI wand 1 3) spray with distilled water again, spread around record, vacuum with VPI wand 2. Then treat record with Gruv Glide.I know, rather anal, but this is the Vinyl Asylum isn't it?? Some may not like all this, especially the Gruv Glide, but I swear I get superior results. Nothing wrong with RRL, though, and easier to use than the method I employ. And DD has a one step fluid, but haven't tried it.
My analog front end is: ZYX Universal, Well Tempered Arm, Sota Cosmos, Sutherland PhD. I listen 98% to classical.

Check yer e-mail.Without going into boring detail, I'll only say that over the course of many years, I've tried virtually every record cleaning fluid, commerical and home-brew. I settled on Record Research Labs Super Deep Cleaner and Super Vinyl Wash as providing the very best combination of safe and effective use.

I find L'art du Son to be best with my Loricraft. Second best is AudioTop Vinyl. I have used RRL and Disk Doctor in the past.
