The intsant pic of your system did not appear on your response post, but I saw your system photo gallery...Outstanding and remarkable system set-up you have !The '85 Klipsch towers caught my eye as I'm sure they probably catch your ears ;-) The Ikea shelves really look as though they were customized for your equipment;Shelves look very clean in design,solid/heavy with easy access to anything on there.Minimalist, yet classy looking shelves (the "less is more" theory or cliche' look)...Is that what your system still consists of or have you done any upgrades or new additions?
Kindest Regards,
Matt67B
Matt,Yea the setup has changed, the AA gallery is old and I have not updated yet. I have pics up on Kodaks gallery but have not figured how to link to it. If you want to see it now give me your email address and I'll shoot you out a link.
Nice looking system there! Here's mine, currently using a Thorens TD320/Ortofon 540 turntable as the front end. The rest of the system is as detailed in my profile (although I forgot to mention the fluffy hedgehog)The other speaker has Gromit (the dog) on it. For balance.
What rack is that? Do you like it? Looks like something I could use...

Nice "less is more" rig. Judging by the number of accessories you take vinyl seriously! For your next upgrade i suggest an Ortofon Super OM20 cart. I have one on my TD125/3009. Probably a good match to your all tube stuff.
"The torture never stops"
Thanks for the tip.Is the Super OM20 MC or MM?

This thing is 9 feet wide and 6 feet tall. Details about the components and tweaks may be found in my Inmate Systems listing. LPs, CDs, reel tapes, and a boatload of 78s are in the adjacent room, while a pair of Gallo Ultimates are in the rear channels. This view is from the sweet seat. The room is 18 x 40', with an "L" off one of the 40' sides. Power, down to 42 Hz, is via a pair of 12 wpc SET monoblocks -- with a 500w subwoofer amp driving the second voice coils of the Gallo Ref 3s down to aprox. 20 Hz. Doesn't sound half bad.

....in your pic looks like the most whacked out skinny trumpet I've ever seen, or one really psychodelic Houka pipe!
Actually that's a functional pocelain bugle made by an artist named Steve Smeed.

i actually have had the oak and the walnut base pass through my hands over the years, but i have stuck with that cream/walnut base - classic!:)
Is that Breakfast in America up there on the wall? Always liked that cover.
In the picture you have, what appears to be an add on power cord, but it appears to be plugged into a cheesy $2 power board with an equally cheesy cord exiting it??? any particular reason???
Or, am I missing something?
Cheerswelly
I went to a restaurant that serves "breakfast at any time". So I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.
True the powercord is one of my own designs and it is running into a cheesy power strip.I haven't found a good one yet and my wall outlets are not grounded so I have to run my powercords to a cheap strip.

first time trying to post pic's
hope it works

how the bass response is on those. However, after reading your system registration you mentioned that deep bass was one of the weaknesses in your system.Any future plans for teaming them up with a sub?...Instead of the Boston Acoustics, I ended up getting a pair of Axioms (which I love and for these ears were a definite step up from a pair of Infinity IL-10's I previously owned---much more natural or neutral sounding than the Infinities and absolutely no coloration;close my eyes and forget I'm listening to a pair of bookshelf speakers). The Infinitys always had a certain cabinet resonance or sound coloration that I could always detect;no matter if I closed my eyes, they still sounded like small speakers even mated with a sub.I did mate the Axioms with a Velodyne sub. The sound is great, but nothing mind blowing or spectacular. Prior to any bookshelves I owned, for 10 years I was used to the thundering bass of a pair of massive Cerwin Vega Re-series w/ 12" woofers. However, as far as sound accuracy and imaging, sonic detail goes, the Cerwins were very lacking in those areas. The Axioms have allowed me to hear so much more greater detail and resolution(especially in my vinyl records) than with the Cerwins...Cerwins gave me ear bleeds sometimes with their sharp high freqs!...
When my budget permits I will be shopping around for another pair of tower speakers with built in subs or woofers...While I like the Axioms and Velodyne together, I can still feel that something is amiss with not having towers(and it ain't just the boom boom bass).I may shoot for a pair of tower Axioms in the future!
So, overall, what are the strengths in your Bostons and how do you like them ??
Best regards,
The Bostons are great. They do it all deep bass included but compared to a system with subwoofers or really large floorstanders the deep bass(below 35hz)seems lacking. Compared to the other monitors and small floorstanders I have tried there is no competetion.....The BA's bass kills them. They also have one of the best tweeters available in the Lynnfield and they soundstage like crazy.
