Garth,In my system (Magneplanars/Odyssey Audio amps/Merrill-AR TT) the 37.5 tap has a slightly brittle or strident edge in the upper octaves. The 150 ohm tap doesn't.
Follow Ups:
With the 103D the 150 ohm tap gives 3.6mV the 37 ohm 4.7mV.
Garth,It may just be a combination of my components. Note too I'm not using a plain DL-103 but the DL-103D and DL-304. Things might be different too with the DL-103R which I have due in.
Really no biggie in the overall scheme of things. I always say it pays to experiment; hence my counsel to try both the 37.5 and 150 ohm taps when employing these transformers.

the 103, 103R and 103S.The other "higher priced spreads" I have are in the 1-4 ohm source impedance range and 0.1-0-2mV outputs. I use them all with the 37ohm (1:36) tap with an adjustment to the load for the really low source impedance cartridges.
You may want to try a somewhat lower impedance with the 150 ohm tap just to see what happens. The usual comments I hear are just the opposite of your experience. But no two systems are the same.
My Odyssey Tempest preamp's MM stage easily can handle those output levels.
