As you might already know, the JMW is a bit finicky when it comes to carts. Here's an excerpt from an email from Mike at VPI regarding the Scout/JMW 9."The perfect match is something like the 20X-H or
the Sumiko Blackbird. You want something in the
12-15 compliance range with a weight greater than
7 grams."I bought a Dyna 20x-h and have found it to work very, very well with the Scout.
If you don't match the cart and the arm properly, you won't get very much out of the money you spent on the table, at least in my experience.
Follow Ups:
The recommended cartridge's dynamic compliance range between 12 x 10 -6 cm/dyne and 15 x 10 -6 cm/dyne, with a mass in excess of 7 grams is critical when matching against the JMW-9 tonearm.Fitting cartridges outside these boundaries is going to require either an entirely different effective mass tonearm or the addition of headshell masses.
I wish I had asked Mike such a simple generic question, prior to asking if my costly Dynavector DV XX-2 LOMC cartridge would fit the JMW-9 tonearm.
