Came across this while cruising Oz ebay - no connection to the seller and no interest in bidding but it caught my attention. For real or DIY job?I don't remember ever seeing a Luxman with a glass platter and the hub that the platter sits on sure looks like a Rega. Did the two companies collaborate at some time? The result looks quite nice.

At first glance I thought the nameplate looked genuine but then there is no Grace arm or cart that one can see. On closer look it's possible that even this was stuck together by someone. Thing is, that someone went to quite a lot of trouble to do all of this!
Garce arms came with square self glued logo that you caould attach to whatever you want - i.e. table. So Grace logo should be disregareded in this case. The plint though looks genuine, but rega motor and belt would not stand studio use. (or someone fitted rega bearing etc. to other plint?

I would think it wouldn't be very practical in a broadcast setting, 'cause it's belt drive and normally you need the high torque of a direct or rim drive in a radio station. Belts normally don't like to be backcued either. Nice table tho. I'd certainly take it.
Yeah, ditto on the belt, and to me, nothing about this looks "radio station durable" and... There are perhaps two too many things that don't add up about this.... creation.I think I actually saw the listing for the 'other' one of these, offered awhile back on eBay, also Aussie. Thought that one looked, um, how would you politely say it... composited ?
I could be wrong, but my instinct would be to avoid.
Sorry, just hyped up here today I guess ("Back To School" flashback...how weird is that?)It DOES look cool to these eyes. No way was it radio station gear though, and I think it's a clever, well, you know.
Allright it's a great load of retrofitted bollocks !!This thing says original Luxman gear like G.W.Bush says worldclass statesmanship !
That said, let us never fail to be respectful of, and treat with diplomacy and goodwill aforethought,
the unknown human ingenuity that may have fostered this sort of, uh, effort. Adequate circumspection and patient inquiry will often win the day.Ha.

Thanks for the laugh!
