And although I haven't heard the VM530EN, I have used other AT carts with elliptical (and conical) styli, and they still tracked very well, had the same sonic signature, etc.
For the record, I'm a huge fan of the 540. I think it's the best cartridge for the money available, and I have compared it, in my system, to several much more expensive cartridges.
But, I also use AT's mono cartridge and an AT VM95C. The mono cart sounds like the 540 in mono. The 95C was well worth the $40 it cost me from Amazon.
I'd say, if you're thinking about popping for the 530EN, do it. You'll probably love the sound, and if you're looking for a little bit more detail later on you can always pick up the 540 stylus.

Well, you gots your people who want to hear details and you gots your people who don't want microscopic highlighting of details to interfere with the musical experience. I don't want real sharp edges.
too sharp sounding. Had that with a 440mla I sold and also a 150mlx. Just couldn't relax with it. Haven't heard the 540 or other new ones so maybe they've improved. My Grado Ref/Ref is the opposite of that, like a super color saturated picture without the edges. Really enjoying my new Dynavector DV-20x2L. Plenty of detail without poking the ears.
...and I think the company listened to the complaints and remade it thereafter. It was the improved version and I don't remember the 440 #'s. I understand your enjoyment of the Dyna and Grado's.
What works well in one person's house may turn out bad in another's and it's very difficult to make a target suggestion without a load of complete details to a learned vinyl/audio file. You will see that many times here on AA.
I've got a couple of 440MLa here and have compared them to the 540.
In fact, if you put the 540 stylus on the 440 body, it still sounds like a 440MLa.
The 540 is sweeter and less bright. Also doesn't seem to be nearly as sensitive to input capacitance. I've tried everything from 0pf to 500pf, and the difference is nearly inaudible.
I've never heard a Dynavector DV-20x2L, but I had a 10x5 and IMO the AT540 kills the 10x5.

The nearest I came to a real comparo was an AT 120 vs AT 440MLa. Both carts had the same sound except the MLa had a lot more detail. At the time, I preferred the 440 but could easily have lived with the 120.
Opus 33 1/3, inmate who used to post here a lot, loved the 120 but hated the 440. He lent me his 120 to try out.
If you're thinking about the 530, IMO, you'll be happy with it and you could spend two or three times more and do worse.
