Interesting article. Some things I'd never heard before mentioned in this article.
And imagine my surprise to find this on Yahoo news of all places.
I'll have to drag my copy down off the shelf and give it a spin. It's been years.
Follow Ups:
Just got it in today on CD. I ordered most of Zappa's albums on CD recently, vinyl has become way too expensive.
"The torture never stops"Greetings Freek.
My 26 y/o daughter tells me that Frank's music is gaining traction in her age group. The 'kids' are digging him.
Not sure the opinion of one is a trend, but I too have noticed the near silly prices being asked for his old records these days, and it could be an indicator of a growing new popularity.
Everyone needs at least one Zappa record if not many, many more.
I have Uncle Meat on vinyl, i had to pay 7,50 euro for it years ago in a thrift store. Nowadays dealers ask 40 to 50 euro for it. Used vinyl. Besides, i only buy used vinyl if i can check it out personally. Just bought Shut up and play your guitar on vinyl, one or two minor scratches but it plays fine after cleaning. Paid 25 euro for this 3LP box.

a high handlebar Harley Davidson roadster. It was the mid 60s.
Friend of mine, first name Gary, bought the record, we got it home to his place, put it on the console stereo, and "The Pusher" came on.
His mom had a conniption. "Gar-EEEE!! They're smoking grass!!! They're popping pills!!!"
We were rolling on the floor.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.

I told him not to Bogart that joint, but he wasn't born to follow. He just wanted to be a bird.
