I liked this one so much that I had to have it in stereo. Big mistake. Stick with the mono.
Follow Ups:
Which means that the stereo is rechanneled to simulate stereo.
My policy is to avoid those records at all costs.

There sure is a "dynamic stereo" version on Roulette reel-to-reel 4-track tape 'cause I own one. Same cover and notes as the LP which I also have. Wiser heads must have prevailed before the stereo LP saw the light of day.
I have some other Basie stereo stuff on Roulette from that era but it's all cut from stereo masters.

Stereo was novel so Roulette made some stereo pressings on red vinyl to... enhance... that aspect.
Stick with the mono though for more pleasing audio results.

Regardless of the sound quality. No way would I leave the record store without it.

Just read this from a review:
" The 1994 reissue is newly remastered from the original mono master tapes (the stereo tapes, with the rhythm section on one channel and all the horns on the other, was rightly not deemed the best source for a release) and has excellent, dynamic and pristine sound quality."
And that's how it sounds on stereo tape. Many thanks, always wondered. Btw, the semi-notorious Teddy Reig was credited as "Recording Supervisor" of the tape.
Some interesting quotes from Wikipedia about Teddie Reig-
Jazz historian Patrick Burke wrote that Reig "initially earned his club-going money with schemes such as selling worn-out records that had been doctored with shoe polish to look brand new."[4]
"Teddy was a freelancer and a wheeler-dealer who suffered no fools and took no prisoners. He could be rude and crude. He smoked enough reefer to launch a rocket. Some considered him a liar and schemer and self-serving schmuck. I liked him. I liked the music he made. I liked the fact that he delivered. Were it not for guys like him, the world of recorded jazz would be considerably poorer."[2]
"Some questioned Reig's integrity and taste. When Sarah Vaughan signed with Roulette in 1960, Reig became her producer. Jazz historian Gary Giddins considers many of her Roulette recordings to be the worst of Vaughan's career."
Here's the back of the cover. Apparently, you're right. I think I have the stereo. I have to play it.
Knock you out of your chair slam. Don't think I'd ever be compelled to look for the stereo unless out of curiosity.

I have both the Classic and a Japanese stereo. Just listened to parts of both. The mono is definitely better. It's not that the sound is bad. The stereo has no center-fill. The sound comes only from the speakers. I think it was Roulette's first attempt at stereo. They should have gotten some advice from those who had already issued stereo recordings.
It's strange though. Listening to the Classic on on my system, it definitely sounds like the bass is to the left of center. I don't think it's my system since other mono recordings are centered. Maybe it's too early in the morning?
All it says is Courtesy Blue Note (!) Records, a Division of Capitol Records, Inc. Under license from EMI-Capitol Music Special Markets."
Very heavy, feels more like 200 grams than 180.
Yes, that's the Classic reissue.

Bernie Grundman did his usually bang-up job with the Classic.

Here's another Japanese pressed Dynamic Stereo I have which was recorded six months later. More laid back. Still mostly speaker centered but more fill in the middle this time. Much better recording. I'll take the stereo here. I like this record more than The Atomic Basie.

Not the greatest sound, but the stereo imaging is relatively realistic.
