or Waka/Jawake remains a favorite from Mr. Z. Would be fun to hear the Grundman remaster though.

Follow Ups:
When the Hobson collection went up for sale a few years back I purchased a test pressing of "Hot Rats". I have trouble imagining Hot Rats sounding any better than this Classic Records test press.
I have around forty Zappa recordings, and it is like picking your favorite child. Impossible to declare a 'best' Zappa record. Some I have a bit more emotional attachment to than others and Wazoo is definitely in that group.
I agree, not possible to pick one favorite. Notice I said "a" favorite, not "the" favorite. ;^)
He just created too much great stuff for me to pick a single favorite.

I have had an original HR since I was like 4 in the early 70's. Inherited from relatives who moved out and/or moved on. I think the recent BG pressing (I have the pink vinyl) sounds great! A slight bit missing off the top end, but barely noticeable. I agree I have piles of FZ on both LP and CD and Hot Rats is among a favorite. So are many others. However Waka and Wazoo are not really among the favs.
I have that pink one too. All together I have three copies of HR.
That Classic Records test pressing beats the snot out of the other two.
Although, that latest pink reissue, (also a fiftieth anniversary reissue if I recall correctly), beats the sound of my much older repress copy. If not for that test press, I could easily live with the pink one.
Thinking it might be time for a Zappa-thon at my house.
Have yet to crack the shrink-wrap on these two new ones, but hopefully I can get around to listening to them over this weekend.
