It's my birthday, so I decided to treat myself to one of my favorite albums. The album cover lists Walter Carlos, so this could be an original pressing. Very quiet. The music is sublime.
Next will be A Clockwork Orange, O my brothers.
Merry Christmas!

Follow Ups:
Check out Sonic Seasonings. Raises artistic interpretation beyond the application of technology.
Walter sitting down. Not unlike the 2000 CD cover. His/her name was changed in 1973, but I think the releases that were originally credited to Walter stayed that way until the CD era. I have an early 80's( with barcode) LP of Switched On Bach II that credited to Walter.
The one time a year the AP #416 gets a spin. Never disappoints.
Ambrosia and Lewis Carrol, have a nice one
Nice to see that someone else appreciates Walter's work. Clockwork Orange is one of my favorites also. I have both versions of its release, preferring the one with the full Timesteps.

My work-study janitoring job at Brown University included emptying the wastebaskets and vacuuming the carpet in the Electronic Music Studio Wendy Carlos had donated to Brown. Vacuuming at the crack of dawn.
Years later, when I went to an NYC NARAS meeting to buttonhole people like Tony Randall (a NARAS Stalwart) about Nathaniel Rosen's Bach solo-cello suites on JMR CDs (we did get a Grammy nomination!) I ran into Wendy Carlos, and I told her that she and I had a cosmic connection.
When I explained what I meant, she had one of those "Is this person for real?" moments, and then she went with the flow, and we had a good laugh.
I told her that I was chosen for that job because they knew I was a music student with a technical inclination, and they trusted me not to monkey with the gear.
She then said something like, "And now... you are here!"
A priceless moment.
IIRC, "Switched on Bach" was the Billboard Classical Chart No. 1 for two solid years. We will never see that again.

I have his/her follow up, the one with the "Pomp and Circumstances" satire.
Good fun.
IIRC, the early Moog that Carlos used couldn't play chords. Only one key at a time. He/she had to overdub like a fiend to record that album.
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
Yep, ALL overdubs. All that work would have driven me crazy. The result is amazing.
