It reminded me that I actually bought an HRT LineStreamer many many years ago ... but didn't do anything with it - so it's been hiding in my cupboard! :-((
Glad to hear you noticed no difference ripping at 192kHz - 96kHz is what I am using.
I'm not going to the extent of breaking up LP sides into tracks - simply recording each side.
Now you say "my system is a basic 2-channel setup with no active cross-overs, multiple amps, and multiple DACs" and that Roon "sounds better with few DSP options enabled".
I urge you to try Roon's Convolution facility. My friend has an amazing system - with MBL 101s driven by:
* ARC 250w tube amps for the mids & tweeters
* 2500w Class D monoblocs on the woofers
* plus a pair of subs for below 30Hz.
Using Roon to provide a 'FIR overlay' on the MBL's passive XOs provided an amazing improvement.
He then programmed Roon convolution for another friend's stand-mount B&Ws (plus subs) - and again, there was a significant improvement in SQ.
That's the driver for me to go down my ripping path - the Roon Convolution capability. :-))
Follow Ups:
I have to admit that I haven't played with Roon's Convolution capabilities. If I'm not mistaken (please fill in the blanks for me) I believe we first need room correction and a room correct file that Roon can read.
I have a good mic from miniDSP and played around very briefly with free software called REW - confusing as heck ! I believe there's a software only product from miniDSP not requiring their processor but I could be wrong.
You need to measure the room with a mic & REW ... then feed something in to Roon.
What, I don't know - my mate is the expert on this process.
