...I got one of Best Audio's reproduction head shells in the mail yesterday.
Fit like the proverbial hand in the glove.
I've purchased several 'shells from Best over the years. The earlier versions needed a bit o' modifyin' in order to get the azimuth correct, but the new one doesn't.
No connection, just highly recommended.

Got a lot of cartridges here thanks to the generosity of another inmate. Much easier to cartridge swap with the AR than the Rega.

It was a mess. Read the restoration article I found and followed the steps.
I just used Armorall on the top deck instead of stripping it. Added RCA's to the back of the plinth and got one of the locking arm rests. It's currently installed with my Nagaoka MP-150. It was made in 1969 and has a real walnut plinth.
I dig the walnut base. I've got two spare bases here in addition to the one on the operational deck, they're all vinyl veneer.

Can you make it easy and post a link? Much appreciated. I have 2 XA but only one shell.
Best Audio is an Ebay store. Also makes repro parts for Duals and other TTs.
Also, I've got AT VM540ML carts in the Rega Planar 6 and the AR XA. Playing the same track through both, using the same phono stage, the differences between the two decks are astonishingly small. The Rega might have a bit more detail, but that could be due to condition of the stylus (both styli are closing in on 400 hours) or the VTA not being the same from one deck to the other.
I used headphones for the comparison and the difference are so small, they probably wouldn't be audible through speakers.
The AR is running a bit faster than the Rega as well.

Thanks for the info. I got a kick out of the ads from a competitor who also makes the AR headshells. Best audio states that 3D printed is not as good as injection molding that they use. The competitor states that 3D printed is better than injection molded. They obviously know who their competition is.
...I bought a couple of Dual items and IMO 3D printed, at least in that case, should be avoided.
On the other hand, the competitor makes an exact copy of the overhang checker for the XA, also replacement thrust pads. So they're OK in my book.

Good to know, thanks.
...just for different things.

I'd like to help but my deck is an old school Thorens. I appreciate all of your posts whether or not they're applicable to my system and experience, Merry Christmas!

I owned a couple through the years, way back to one purchase when new.
As I've related before, I restored one for elderly friends to sell a few years ago. Listening to that after the restoration gave me new respect. It really sounded good, with much musical satisfaction. I could still see one in a moderately priced system.
But I never needed an after market headshell.

I have a Best on my AR XB. It was miswired.

Other than a bit of file work to get the early shells to fit better, I never had a problem.
The guy who makes those used to post over at AK. Seemed pretty stand up.
BTW, I think I'd sell the Rega before I'd unload the AR.
