I am looking at this VPI 12" 3D tonearm. I believe it is version 2 or 3.
Maybe someone can outline the differences between. Also is the pivot to spindle suppose to be 300mm?
But looking at the attached picture it does not look like the arm is perfectly straight. Is this normal, a slight dip in the middle?

Thanks everyone for your valuable support.
Call VPI and show them the picture , I'm sure Harry , Mat . et al , will be able to help you out .
Bent carrot dot com.
I assume it's a bug and not a feature. As others have said, I'd get my money back.
Without knowing more information about the epoxy used, it is hard to be precise, but some epoxy resins have a low softening temperature. it looks like your 3D arm has been subject to heat close to the heat deflection temperature which has resulted in the bend. Heat also causes degradation to the epoxy so this is definitely not a good condition for the arm.
The bend will require you to adjust arm height and potentially horizontal tracking, so it isn't "unusable". However, it is definitely sub-optimal and not in the original form that it should be in. If you bought it second hand, then I would be returning it.

That is not normal. Did you buy this used? If you contact VPI they may be able to help you. I believe their later versions had a rod insert in the 3D arms to make them stiffer. I have two 3D arms (standard and Fatboy), both 10.5. They are straight with no bends.
