And Clifford Brown, Max Roach, Richie Powell, George Morrow...
The blissful counterstroke-a considerable new message.
Follow Ups:
Are you enjoying mono more now with a dedicated cartridge?
I was skeptical but it really does make a huge difference. This particular record, Sonny Rollins Plus 4 , Max Roach's solo in "Valse Hot" really hits the solar plexus like it never did with the stereo cart.
It's all good enough that I have mono LPs on the shopping list for the first time ever.

Hi ghost of olddude55,
What mono cart did you choose? What arm and table? Same as pictured?
I have a copy of "Plus Four" I picked up in Japan a few years ago. Great record.
And it's mounted in the Dual 1219 as shown.
I have a boatload of mono jazz albums that I seldom played but I'm really enjoying them now.

I also have a fair number of mono albums; the majority jazz but some older music, spoken word, and the like. Your posts on the subject have inspired me to try out a mono setup up in my office. I might even run it through "The Fisher" TA-500 and EV Aristocrat that have been gathering dust in the corner over there...
A lot of my mono records played back with stereo cartridges had tizziness on things like muted trumpets. Ella and Louis , Armstrong's voice was very sibilant. So was his horn.
The mono cartridge cured all that.

Wow! That's great! So much great music in mono to explore.
another example of why tone controls are wanted and even essential - bass HEAVY and treble light. Not a lot but I'm a stickler.
Some really great music, 'nuff said
Amen.
Many favorites of his, but Innervisions and Talking Book are on top of my heap.
I don't think I've ever played it on the speakers thought. Always the headphones.
Using the speakers more and more lately. The mono albums played with the mono cartridge sound truly terrific.
